OUR FOUNDATION

A brighter PATH
to Christmas

During the recent holidays, we were excited to help illuminate the path to a happy Christmas for nearly 600 families enrolled in Jamaica's Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH) program. PATH delivers cash grants to needy and vulnerable residents through funding by the Jamaican government and the World Bank. The annual initiative targeted families in the Port and Refinery Council communities, home to our liquefied natural gas facilities.

Our New Fortress Energy Foundation partnered with Food for the Poor, a local non-governmental organization, to donate and deliver food hampers to people in need in Old Harbour, Clarendon, and Montego Bay.

"It’s always a pleasure to work with New Fortress Energy at this time every year to deliver hope in a package to so many families,” Kivette Silvera, Executive Director at Food for the Poor Jamaica, said.  “We’re happy that their heart of service matches ours, which makes it a joy to work with them."

Each family received three specially curated packages containing essential items to sustain a family of up to five members for several weeks, including chicken, cooking oil, canned foods, peas, dried food supplies, milk products, cereals, cake, and personal care items such as bath soaps, toilet paper, rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, masks, and toothpaste.

The recipients’ cheers of "Thank you, thank you so much for this!" and heartfelt wishes of "God bless and Merry Christmas" echoing through the air was simply overwhelming.

Covely Grey, a 70-year-old retired fish vendor who lost his home to fire, expressed his deep appreciation: "This is a blessing. After my house was burnt down, my nephew took me in, so this will be a big help for the two of us. Thank you, and God bless you."

"I never expected it to be so much,” added Julia Harrison, a 31-year-old mother of two. “I’m very grateful, and I’m sure that everyone else who will collect their package today is just as happy and thankful. Thank you so much, NFE."

"We are all very thankful to NFE for what they continue to do every year in ensuring that these families can have food on their tables for the holiday,” said Reverend Sandra Nembhard, president of the Old Harbour Bay Development Committee.

"On behalf of the families in Montego Bay, I would like to thank New Fortress Energy for always spreading cheer and brightening the faces of our children at this time of the year with their toy donation,” acknowledged His Worship the Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Leeroy Williams. “Many of these children may not get anything else for the holiday, so this means a lot to them. Of note is the large food packages that NFE also donated to 200 homes in Montego Bay. We know that this supply of food and personal care items will go very far for these families, and we are very thankful for the consistent level of partnership and support from NFE over the years.”

We feel like we received the best gift of all – knowing we were able to help light the holidays for our neighbors at this special time of the year.
