Pioneer II completes our
Fast LNG 1 installation
It’s here! This week the Pioneer II arrived in Altamira, Mexico, marking the final step in our Fast liquefied natural gas (LNG) 1 installation.
The heart and soul of our local Fast LNG 1 facility, Pioneer II is the liquefaction rig that will chill and convert clean natural gas into LNG. Its liquefaction module, weighing in at more than 5,000 tons, includes air coolers, a Chart cold box for heat exchange, a Baker Hughes LM6000PF+ gas turbine-driven compressor, and hose reels to transport the newly made LNG to the floating storage unit to await sale into the market.
Pioneer II joins Pioneer I, the gas processing module, and Pioneer III, the utilities and accommodation rig, to complete our Fast LNG 1 unit.
It’s an exciting milestone, not only for us at New Fortress Energy, but also for the world of LNG.
