Family & friends

“I’m thankful for my family this year more than ever, since my family went through some adversity and stress dealing with my dad’s health issues. Thankfully, he was able to get back to full health after surgery, with the love and support of our family and friends. I’m happy everyone is healthy now and recently, we were able to celebrate and enjoy my brother’s wedding. We had the time of our lives and when reflecting back on 2024 thus far, I’m super thankful to have an amazing family!” – Ankur Patel, New York City

“This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for my family— the people who remind us to “take it easy”; for friends, who understand that “systems optimization” is just another way of saying we care; for comfort, like the reassurance of knowing every spreadsheet is perfectly formatted and every workflow is smoother than mashed potatoes; and for good meals, because running a seamless operation on an empty stomach just isn’t feasible (pass the gravy, please!). Last but not least, I am thankful for laughter— whether it comes from the occasional tech hiccup or the moment we realize the “emergency” was just someone’s password reset. We power through with a smile (and maybe some coffee).” – Lukas Merritt, New York City

“This year, I am thankful for my wife, Kayla, and our two beagles, Chief and Pepper. We all enjoy spending time with each other and taking frequent walks out in nature.” – Mike Budesa, Houston

“I am thankful for my loving family, whose unwavering support means the world to me. I'm also grateful to my friends— both long-term and new ones at NFE— who fill my life with laughter and joy. Additionally, I appreciate my good health which allows me to enjoy life to the fullest and create lasting memories with the people I care about." – Tia Zajec, New York City

“I am very thankful for my family and for the opportunities we’ve had to travel to new places, gain new experiences, and for the abundant growth we’ve had this year as a family, together and individually. I am also very grateful for NFE and the opportunity to work for a great organization with an amazing team whose gifts and talents are always on display, bringing positive energy to everyone around them.” – Jordan Truitt, Houston

“I am grateful to have such a beautiful family, filled with new adventures yearly. Between Tobias and I, we have 7 children and 1 grandchild, plus a few fiancées. I always dreamed of having a large family, I am here to say dreams do come true! We have 2 weddings next year and a graduation from LSU the following year!” – Angelica Read, Houston

“I am thankful for my family and everything they have done in supporting me to get to where I am today.” – Patrick Rigby, New York City

“In this time of giving thanks, I feel deep gratitude for family and friends. Specifically, the small moments of laughter and joy that I cherish immensely. I am also thankful for the opportunity to travel, enjoy our beautiful planet and what Mother Nature has to offer. Lastly, my three rescue dogs are a true gift and I’m grateful for their unconditional love.” – Daniel Felix, Houston

Experiences & moments

“This year, I am grateful for each experience, whether joyful or challenging, as they’ve contributed to my growth and understanding. The hurdles my family has overcome have made us stronger and provided invaluable lessons. Our achievements, some small and some significant, have set milestones that help us through our journey.” – David Stroud, Houston

"This year, being born in the US, I am thankful I had the opportunity to visit Vietnam for the very first time. I was able to learn more about my culture and meet my family there. I am also truly blessed and grateful for all the close friends and family I have in my life, along with my NFE family. Lastly, I’m grateful for my two adopted kids aka dogs (Josie & Turbo)." – Suzanne Nguyen, Houston

“At times when we think what to be grateful for, we look for those extraordinary moments or experiences to come to mind. For me, I am grateful for the little things, those that at times we take for granted but that without them the rest lose meaning. I am grateful for the good result on my yearly health checkup as well as for my family’s good health. I am grateful for stability, for a job that provides me with the opportunity to earn the means to live an honorable and respectful life. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow and for the chance to get to visit other countries, to learn new cultures, to meet different people, and to evolve as a professional and as a person. I am so thankful for my family, my good friends, my colleagues and for the love that keeps me connected to those that bring kindness, care, and lessons to my life. For my 4 children and my soon-to-be grandchild, they are the base and engine of my peace of mind. Lastly, I am thankful for being aware and present each moment celebrating life, with all that it comes.” – Jennifer Witeczek, Miami
