Giving back in Nicaragua
In Nicaragua, the largest country in Central America, we’re working to make a big difference. Our natural-gas-fired power plant near Puerto Sandino will supply power to the republic’s electricity distribution companies, supporting long-term economic development and reducing harmful emissions.
Our team also got fired up about making a big difference for the children in this area during the extended holiday season. We partnered with non-profit NicaPhoto, Inc., to distribute about 280 holiday gift baskets to children and families at the Puerto Sandino Elementary School on January 7, 2022, and another 120 baskets at the NicaPhoto office in Nagarote on January 11th.
"We were thrilled to kick off 2022 partnering with New Fortress Energy to support the community of Puerto Sandino as well as that of NicaPhoto,” said Ronnie Maher, Founder and Executive Director, NicaPhoto, Inc. “It was a fabulous event and beginning of a new partnership with NFE. We are full of hope for the future, as we know that together we can have a large and sustainable impact on these vulnerable communities.”
The baskets were filled with food and other necessities including rice, beans, eggs, oatmeal, oil, sardines, pasta, soap, bleach, and toilet paper.

As a member of the Nicaragua team, I am genuinely delighted in having shared quality time with our work peers, friends, and families, as well as people from the local community of Puerto Sandino, lifting up our spirits in these tough times!"
