Meet Conrad
Growing up in the rural, family-oriented farming community of Morgan's Forest in Clarendon, Jamaica, Conrad Wright spent his days hunting, fishing, and swimming with his brothers and cousins. He remembers with deep appreciation the love and support of his mother, a teacher, and his father, a farmer and construction worker.
"They are my greatest influences," Conrad shares. "My parents rarely made decisions for me. Instead, they instilled core values that taught me to make logical and well-informed choices. Those principles continue to guide me, both personally and professionally, and motivate me to strive to continuously outdo the best version of myself.”
His decision to study industrial engineering has its roots in his abundant curiosity.
"As a child, I was always taking apart 'perfectly fine' household appliances just to see how they worked," he laughs.
Today, as Operations Manager at our liquefied natural gas terminal in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Conrad coordinates operational activities, collaborates with the maintenance team to minimize downtime, enforces safety policies, manages training programs, oversees inventory, and collaborates with the marine logistics team to monitor throughput and meet customer needs. He also handles budgeting and planning for both capital and operating expenses, leading major projects such as commissioning and start-ups.

Since joining us eight years ago, Conrad has expertly managed many challenges, but the most memorable one happened while he was an Operator during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, he traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to help commission a critical safety system, only to find himself unexpectedly away from home for months due to Jamaican border closures. During his extended stay, Conrad played a key role in commissioning communication and safety systems, training new staff, and implementing critical procedures.
“It wasn’t easy, but the experience allowed me to provide essential support in ways I hadn’t anticipated,” he recalls. “I am honored to have had the pleasure of working with a great group of people who were supportive throughout my stay.”
Looking ahead, Conrad has admirably bold ambitions. He dreams of visiting every country in Africa, establishing a foundation to improve education at his childhood primary school, and even conquering his fear of heights through wingsuit flying or skydiving.
“I’d also like to write a memoir,” he notes, “to share my life journey and inspire younger generations.”
Asked what powers him with positive energy, Conrad responds with enthusiasm.
“I love seeing the impact of what I do here at New Fortress Energy,” he says. “I’m driven by our commitment to sustainable growth and knowing we’re making a real difference. I also draw energy from the culture of support and opportunity here, where everyone is encouraged to grow and contribute to the company's vision.”
